Sept. 23 is National Voter Registration Day

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- On Sept. 23, Americans will celebrate National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) with a massive 50-state effort to register voters before Election Day this November. Fulton County Registration and Elections encourages residents to join others across the nation who will be registering to vote.

The deadline for registering to vote in the Nov. 4 General Election is Monday, Oct. 6. Online voter registration is available, which allows new voters to complete the entire process online at www.fultonelections.com. In Fulton County, residents can register to vote online, at their city hall, the Georgia Department of Driver Services, any Atlanta Fulton County Library Branch, at one of the three registration and elections offices or by mail.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. -- Voter Education is an essential non-partisan comprehensive approach to providing the citizens of Fulton County with vital information and data to enhance the voter experience.

The Department of Registration and Elections regularly partners with civic, business and religious organizations to conduct voter registration drives. Groups interested in scheduling a drive can contact the Department of Registration and Elections by phone 404-612-7020 or by fax 404-730-7024.

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- Movies By Moonlight, the second movie event in a series of three and presented by nonprofit organization Leadership Sandy Springs, begins Friday, Sept. 5 with Despicable Me 2.

Like a free block party and drive-in all rolled in to one, it's a chance for atendees to get to know their community. The kick-off movie Frozen was a wild success and event organizers promise to deliver the same amount of fun on Friday.

Leadership Sandy Springs' kicks off Movies By Moonlight with 'Frozen'

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- Leadership Sandy Springs presents the 10th annual Movies by Moonlight beginning tonight: three Friday evenings of FREE quality entertainment and family fun. Shown on the terraced lawn of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church’s Activity Center, the kickoff film will be the blockbuster hit Frozen, shown on a huge inflatable screen. 

While the movies don’t begin until dark, food will be available for purchase via onsite food trucks such as Yumbii and Chef Rob’s Additionally, guests will be treated to entertainment and film studio novelties from Cinemoms, and LSS has kids in mind with inflatable amusements in the Kids Zone, along with games and concessions.

Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmers Market ends season Aug. 27

FULTON COUNTY, ga. -- On Wednesday, August 27 at 10 a.m., Fulton County Cooperative Extension will celebrate the successful fourth season of the Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer’s Market. This year, the program provided approximately 31.5 tons of fresh produce to more than 6,900 residents in 24 Fulton County communities.

The celebration will take place at Berean seventh Day Adventist Church located at 291 Hamilton E. Holmes Drive, Atlanta and is open to all Fulton County residents.

The closing ceremony will include comments from Chairman John Eaves, Fulton County Board of Commissioners and Valeria Pickard, USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Fulton Fresh was founded in 2011 as part of Fulton County’s continuous effort to address health disparities. Communities served by the seasonal program benefit from the delivery of fresh produce, nutrition education and were taught how to prepare tasty, healthy meals with the produce they received.
