SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- Sandy Springs Police are taking part in an innovative program to convert their patrol cars to run on propane.
The department has received a federal grant that partially pays for the cars to be equipped with propane tanks.
The department says propane costs half as much as gas and the cars basically function the same.
The department has received grants to convert 50 cars. The cost per vehicle is just under $6,000.
