SANDY SPRINGS | Fugitive of the Week: Morgan Buffington | News
SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- Morgan Todd Buffington is 11Alive's Fugitive of the Week. He's wanted by Sandy Springs Police.
The 31-year-old Atlanta man has outstanding warrants for Aggravated Assault, Battery, Criminal Damage to Property and Criminal Trespass. He's also wanted on a probation violation out of Cobb County, a probation resulting from felony drug convictions.
On December 22, 2009, Buffington was in his girlfriend's Sandy Spring apartment without permission. She is the mother of his child. Police said Buffington and his girlfriend got into an argument, and Buffington began punching her in the head. They said Buffington then put a gun to his girlfriend's head and told her he was going to kill her. Before he left the apartment, police said Buffington smashed a dining room table and other furniture.
"We issued warrants at the time," said Sandy Springs Police Lt. Steve Rose. "He absconded, and we haven't seen him since."
Buffington's probation was revoked in Cobb County in January 2007, before the Sandy Springs domestic violence charges. Even though it's been two years since the Sandy Springs incident, Lt. Rose doesn't think Buffington has gone too far.
"I doubt seriously that he's hit the road," Rose said. "I think he's probably in the metro area somewhere."
Now the pressure is on him because he is the Fugitive of the Week. He is featured on Rowson's Crime Scene with prior fugitives. Sandy Springs Police ask anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts to call their hot line at 770-551-3300. They can also call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
