The pride of Douglasville will stop by the Atlanta children's hospital on Monday, Feb. 24 at 3 p.m.

Michael Merlin named to 'On Wall Street' magazine's Top Advisors Under 40

ATLANTA -- Morgan Stanley (NYSE: MS) today announced that Michael Merlin, an Executive Director, Financial Advisor in the Firm’s wealth management office in Atlanta, GA, has been named to On Wall Street Magazine’s 2013 listing of “Top 40 Advisors Under 40.”

This listing is a select group of individuals who are 39 years of age or younger, as of December 31, 2013. Individuals are recognized based on their trailing 12-month production (T-12) and assets under management (AUM) as of September 30, 2013. This listing also takes into consideration the overall business mix of practices and adherence to high standards of industry regulatory compliance. Investment performance is not a criterion.

‘The Office' actor teaching at Holy Innocents’ Film & TV Academy

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- Actor Brian Baumgartner, the Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (HIES) alumnus known particularly for his role as Kevin Malone on "The Office," will return home this June to teach at a new Holy Innocents’ Film & TV Academy.

Academy classes, scheduled June 2–20, will teach students in Metro Atlanta to write, direct, film and edit their own films. Registration is open to students from area schools now through May 15 at tinyurl.com/l3gawp9.

Baumgartner took advantage of acting opportunities when he was a student at Holy Innocents’ -- after a leg injury sidelined him from sports -- and the result has been a successful career.

“The first acting I ever did was at Holy Innocents’. I chose to get involved, and that led me somewhere I never could have imagined,” Baumgartner said when he visited the campus in 2010.

Epstein School alum breaks into show business

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- Jonathan Gaynes, who graduated from the Epstein School in 2005, is well on his way to having a successful career in show business.

Gaynes recently visited the Sandy Springs school with friend and fellow alumnus Nir Levy to speak to students about college and the early stages of careers.

After graduating from American University with degrees in film production and business administration, Gaynes began building his professional network. Through hard work and persistence, he landed work on two popular television shows -- "House of Cards" and "Veep." He has also produced a number of short films and music videos.

Gaynes now plans to join the New York film industry and hopes to become a well-known and accomplished cinematographer.

He told the Epstein students that he got his start working on "Good Morning Epstein," the school's weekly live student broadcast.
