Boat ramp construction underway at Morgan Falls Dam

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- Boaters and anglers who frequent the Morgan Falls Dam portion of the Chattahoochee River near Sandy Springs should be aware of construction that began on Monday, May 9.

Crews are working to replace the existing boat ramp near the dam. The new ramp should be completed in early June.

The area, including the fishing pier that was built in March, will remain open during construction.

Lighter boats, such as kayaks and canoes, may still be launched from the shore. The concrete boat ramp at the National Park Service Johnson Ferry Unit is available for heavier boats; this will still allow for access to the same parts of the river.

Replacement of the current Morgan Falls Dam ramp is necessary because of deterioration.
