Georgia Lottery launches new Georgia-only lotto game

ATLANTA – The Georgia Lottery is introducing an exciting new game that will be available only in Georgia. Jumbo Bucks Lotto with Ca$h Match combines a classic lotto draw game with an instant-win component.

The game concept is the first of its kind in Georgia.

Jumbo Bucks Lotto with Ca$h Match offers jackpots starting at $1 million. The jackpot will continue to grow until there is a jackpot winner.

Additionally, players can select Ca$h Match for a chance to win up to $500 instantly.

Jumbo Bucks Lotto with Ca$h Match went on sale at Georgia Lottery retailers statewide Sunday.

Drawings will be held at 11 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays. The first drawing will be conducted Feb. 23.

Tickets are $1 per play. The Ca$h Match option costs an additional $1 per play.

Players must pick six numbers from one to 47. Win the jackpot prize by matching the six numbers drawn. The game offers three additional lotto prizes from $5 to $500.

(ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE) -- HoneyBaked Ham will hire 10,000 people for part-time holiday jobs.

The Atlanta-based glazed ham and turkey retailer said that’s a 600-percent total increase in its workforce across 400 stores. The company operates 21 stores in metro Atlanta.

“More than 2.5 million customers invite HoneyBaked to their important holiday gatherings during the holiday season company-wide, from Thanksgiving through the start of the new year,” said President and COO Maggie DeCan. “We’re happy to employ 10,000 people during the holidays when many need an extra income. Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmers Market ends season Aug. 27

FULTON COUNTY, ga. -- On Wednesday, August 27 at 10 a.m., Fulton County Cooperative Extension will celebrate the successful fourth season of the Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer’s Market. This year, the program provided approximately 31.5 tons of fresh produce to more than 6,900 residents in 24 Fulton County communities.

The celebration will take place at Berean seventh Day Adventist Church located at 291 Hamilton E. Holmes Drive, Atlanta and is open to all Fulton County residents.

The closing ceremony will include comments from Chairman John Eaves, Fulton County Board of Commissioners and Valeria Pickard, USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Fulton Fresh was founded in 2011 as part of Fulton County’s continuous effort to address health disparities. Communities served by the seasonal program benefit from the delivery of fresh produce, nutrition education and were taught how to prepare tasty, healthy meals with the produce they received.

Chuice comes to metro Atlanta Whole Foods

(ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE) -- Atlanta-based Chuice, maker of blends of bottled, plant-based foods landed Whole Foods Market as its newest retailer in Atlanta.

The beverage is now available at Whole Foods in Buckhead and Midtown, and is slated for distribution to all eight metro Atlanta stores by November.

Dr. Sujit Sharma, a practicing emergency room pediatrician at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, is the CEO for the startup.

"This is an opportunity to be part fo a solution-oriented approach to disease prevention," Sharma said in a statement. "Chuice is far more than just juice, containing high quantities of nutrient dense fiber missing in almost all drinkable refreshments on the market. Nuts and seeds in Chuice also provide high quality protein, as well as healthy fats, that are also missing from most juices. The result is a complete meal."

Chuice was created by Taste of Earth LLC founder and personal trainer Ladell Hill.

(WXIA) -- This weekend will be a holiday for Georgia families in more ways than one.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has suspended construction-related lane closures on all major interstates and highways within five miles of malls and shopping districts.

This will allow parents and students to enjoy the tax-free shopping weekend without the added stress of road delays.

"The sales tax holiday is an opportunity for Georgians to save a little money during these challenging economic times," GDOT Commissioner Keith Golden said. "The department is glad to offer some relief from lane closures as families prepare for school."

Ellard Farmers Market opens in Alpharetta

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- The Ellard Farmers Market will be open July 12, August 2, August 23 and September 13 to serve residents in the Alpharetta community. The farmers market is operated by Fulton County Cooperative Extension.

The market is located at the Ellard Village Shopping Center at 8400 Holcomb Bridge Road in Alpharetta, 30022 (at the intersection of Holcomb Bridge and Barnwell behind Starbucks and CVS). The market is open rain or shine.

The farmers market will feature local fresh fruits and vegetables, educational programs, children’s activities, knife sharpening, and live performances by local musicians.

Market visitors can also get free advice from UGA Fulton County Cooperative Extension Agents and Master Gardeners on topics ranging from planting a garden to radon detection and canning.
