The first Georgia franchise for Another Broken Egg Cafe recently opened in the Peachtree Battle Shopping Center, which is located in the 2300 block of Peachtree Road. With over 140 different menu items, the restaurant has quickly become Atlanta's newest hotspot for breakfast, lunch or brunch. It is open daily from 7 a.m.-2 p.m.

Many Atlantans who vacation in Destin, Fla., are familiar with the restaurant concept. That's one of the reasons owners Dana and Mignon Percival, along with their children, Drew and Sara, decided to set up shop in Atlanta.

Despite the economy, many people still eat out. According to the National Restaurant Association, Americans spend about 49 percent of their food dollar on food away from home.

A "Living Social" survey found that the average American eats 4.8 meals per week in restaurants. The most popular meal is lunch.

Atlantans also are famous for eating out. Residents spend a whopping 57 percent of their food budget on dining out, according to bundle.com.

"We've worked in the hospitality industry since we were teenagers," explained Mignon Percival. "In our later years, Dana took on a project in Orlando. After he completed that assignment, we decided to change directions for the next chapter in our lives. As hard as we have worked in the past for others, we really wanted to work for ourselves."

Opening Another Broken Egg Cafe appealed to them, she said, because they love the product, the concept and the hours.

"There are a huge number of people in Atlanta who vacation in Destin," she said. "We knew if we came here, people would be familiar with the restaurant and appreciate having a little bit of the beach in their city."

Although the Percivals have expansion plans, they "want to walk before they run, crawl before they walk. This restaurant needs to be a showcase before we move on," said Mignon.

She added, "Customer service and a consistent product are the key ingredients for a successful restaurant."

Another Broken Egg Cafe is staffed by 33 employees. "We had a three-day job fair and interviewed over 200 potential workers. We chose some who had food and beverage experience and some who didn't," said Mignon.

"We want our customers to feel as comfortable dining with us as they would feel in their own home," she said. "Our goal is to earn guests for life."
