SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- Sandy Springs Police have charged a man with harassing members of the local Jewish community.

Charles Cortell was arrested Friday morning on three counts of disorderly conduct.

Sandy Springs Police Sgt. Ron Momon said Cortell is accused of making harassing phone calls and sending hate-filled emails and text messages to members of a Sandy Springs synagogue.

"Although Cortell is Jewish, his message was largely one of hatred toward the Jewish population and paranoia about certain political and government facets," Momon said in a release.

Officers received a tip that Cortell frequents the area of Windsor Parkway in Sandy Springs. He was arrested during a traffic stop in that area and is being held in the Alpharetta Jail.

(WXIA) -- A federal grand jury has indicted 17 members of a massive Mexican drug ring.

Since last October, law enforcement has seized much of the ring's wares in several busts, including:

* Oct. 8, 2013: 39 pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Doraville

* Oct. 11, 2013: 165 pounds of methamphetamine during a search of an apartment on Cleburne Parkway in Hiram
