Holy Innocents' Episcopal School Gala to warm wintry weather

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- The Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School (HIES) Parents’ Association is warming up wintry weather with its March 21 Gala, “An Evening in Margaritaville,” to raise funds for new and ongoing school projects. The Gala, which begins at 7 p.m. in the school gymnasium, is open to members of the school community, and supporters of Holy Innocents’ are welcome to attend. Sponsorships are also still being accepted.

Gala guests will have opportunities to bid on donated items in silent and live auctions—including trips to Aspen, Belize, Mexico, New York, and Mardi Gras 2016. Bids on a yellow Labrador puppy, a Gala favorite, will also be accepted.

The nonprofit, volunteer Parents’ Association funds school-wide initiatives, such as the recent One School Capital Campaign for a new Upper School Math, Science & Commons Building, the Annual Fund, and specific projects like the laptop program, playground equipment purchases, and financial aid.

“Supporting the students and the school is our ultimate goal,” said HIES Parents’ Association President Caroline Jones Shah. “Each financial or in-kind gift makes a difference in our ability to help the administration and the faculty provide the best academic experience possible for our children. We are very proud and very grateful for each and every contribution.”

While Gala is the Parents’ Association’s largest fund-raiser of the year, parent volunteers organize many other programs to raise funds for Holy Innocents’. Last year, more than $200,000 was raised for such initiatives as the new garden for the Primary School, additional laptops for students and faculty, and expanded financial aid. The Parents’ Association also sponsors parent education speakers, teacher appreciation luncheons, and a fresh fruit snack program for Middle and Upper School students.

Current sponsors of this year’s Gala include: presenting sponsor Piedmont Healthcare, which has made a generous $15,000 gift; as well as Affairs to Remember Caterers, Delta Air Lines, and HIES Parent Chris Carlos of the National Distributing Company, all of whom are contributing $10,000 each.
