Fire Chief Jeff Scarborough said crews arrived just after midnight to find smoke but no flames coming from the peak of the building.
Scarborough said the suspected lightning strike shorted out the electrical system and caused moderate damage to the restaurant's roof and attic area.
The owners were there at the time, but it is unclear if the restaurant was open.
Scarborough said no one was injured.
