Heards Ferry Elementary students love their teachers

Heards Ferry Elementary students love their teachers

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- Students at Heards Ferry Elementary School in Sandy Springs spent a whole week showing their teachers just how much they appreciate all their hard work.

With the help of a Teacher Appreciation Team of four dedicated parents, the school held a Hollywood Stars-themed celebration during the week of Mar. 14. Teachers were given stars on the Heards Ferry Walk of Fame, which wound throughout the building.

Students brought cards, flowers and gifts to their teachers.

Special breakfasts and lunches were also catered every day by popular Sandy Springs restaurants, including Starbucks, Gigi's Cupcakes, Jimmy John's, Chick-fil-A and Slope's BBQ.

On Thursday morning, the school's Cub Scouts sponsored a crepe breakfast, which included a chef spinning and filling hot crepes to order.

Friday fish at Uncle Julio's, Sandy Springs

Friday fish at Uncle Julio's, Sandy Springs

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- Somehow, the Season of Lent always turns into a quest to find the perfect Friday fish dish.

When a group of friends and former colleagues decided to gather at Uncle Julio's after work on Friday, Mar. 18, I tagged along in hopes of ordering a fish taco.

Sadly, there was no such item on the menu. But the shrimp quesadilla (listed as an appetizer) was absolutely divine.

Uncle Julio's also features a unique frozen drink -- the signature Swirl, which is a classic margarita woven with a ribbon of homemade sangria. Although I'm partial to the strawberry margarita, the Swirl sounds like a perfect way to toast the beginning of a summer weekend.

The deck at Uncle Julio's is a lot of fun, although its proximity to Peachtree Dunwoody Road makes it a little difficult to hear your companions' conversation when a truck roars by.

FOOD REVIEW: Salt Factory Pub, Roswell GA

FOOD REVIEW: Salt Factory Pub, Roswell GA

Salt Factory Pub sits on Canton Street in historic Roswell in the center of what’s happening in North Fulton. Not only was Salt Factory Pub totally packed out, so was everything else around – including the parking. TIP: If you can’t get parking at the Antique market, go one block east toward Alpharetta St. (Hwy 9) and you should be able to find something within a short walking distance.

When we arrived at Salt Factory Pub we were told that the wait was 35-40 minutes, but we were seated within 20 and had a great table in the corner from where we could observe the entire restaurant.

I usually try to review great sexy restaurants for you – places to go on a date, or a romantic evening or celebration.  Great food is always my first priority because I’m not that girl that only orders a Caesar salad!   I like to eat and I like to eat well!

Well guys this weekend I had the opportunity to review a restaurant that at first glance did not impress me as a hot date spot.  But as my visit progressed, I started to envision that this was the place where you go because you enjoy delicious healthy food...

Each Chick-fil-A will celebrate in its own way.

FOOD REVIEW: Tin Can Fish House & Oyster Bar, Sandy Springs, GA

FOOD REVIEW: Tin Can Fish House & Oyster Bar, Sandy Springs, GA

We’d been hearing good things about Tin Can Fish House & Oyster Bar for weeks and, being seafood lovers, we were dying to check it out.

Our time came however, at the end of a long day shopping and battling traffic for the last hour. To top it all off, the GPS left us in front of an Animal Clinic wondering how in the world with this type of technology it can still be so wrong? Fortunately, we called and they talked us down. Needless to say neither of us were in the best of moods when we walked in, but Ahmeed changed all of that.
